According to M. Lock (AP), Famous Daves at the Minnesota State Fair is selling Pig Lickers, chocolate covered crispy bacon. The sweet treat was developed by a third generation chocolatier, Joseph Marini III. So will Pig Lickers displace champagne truffles or Snickers Bars? Only time will tell. Me, I like Maplewood bacon with two eggs, sunny side up. Ahh, first light hearted bit of news I’ve seen this year!

Scorecard on a scale of 0-10 for progress in science, politics, religion: Science 10; Politics-0; Religion-0. Looks like 2000 plus years of uninterrupted corruption, unethical behavior, lack of integrity, self interest, self indulgence, and man’s inhumanity to man.

June 21 - A River Does What A River Does - It overflows its banks. It brings rich topsoil to the areas it floods. It creates fertile lands for growing our food. The extremes of nature can be mitigated by levees so the flooding takes place less often. People decide to not only farm the land but to build houses, roads schools, etc. Maybe it is wishful thinking that the river will no longer flood. Maybe the local zoning laws should allow only agriculture on this flood plain land and prohibit homes, roads, schools. This of course, is an old idea. The only problem is that each year, the laws are nibbled and weakened. The consequences are overwhelming. When will we learn?

Offensive, unacceptable, immature. People in the military have served this country and its people well. They have kept the country safe, preserved our values, and have not run from military service. Where would we be without these men of courage and strength, Washington, Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Kennedy? These were not wimps. These were men who were not afraid to fight, men whose goals were peace, freedom for all. Shame on Tom Harken.

With the rest of the country we send our wishes to Senator Kennedy for successful treatment. Sadly, we know only too well the difficulties he and his family face. How fragile life really is.

Want to know something about where the oil for gas is coming from? These companies import Middle Eastern oil:> Shell…………………….. 205,742,000 barrels> Chevron/Texaco……… 144,332,000 barrels> Exxon /Mobil…………… 130,082,000 barrels> Marathon/Speedway.. 117,740,000 barrels> Amoco………………………62,231,000 barrels> Citgo gas is from South America, from a Dictator who hates Americans. If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (Oil is now $90 - $100 a barrel) Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil: Sunoco, Conoco, Sinclair, B P/Phillips, Hess, ARC0 All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing. And fill up your car in the morning when the temperature is cool and don’t let the tank go below half full. It’s better for your pocketbook!

Juan Williams summed it all up after this morning’s address by Rev. Wright. The pastor is trying to suggest that criticism directed at his opinions is criticism of the entire nation’s black Christian church. I agree with Juan Williams. Rev. Wright has got it all wrong.
